Venerable Vladimir was born in 1872 in the village of Shibanovo, Pskov province. In 1898, he entered the desert of Saint Paraklistos, and in 1901, he moved to the Smolensk Zosimov Desert. In 1907, he was tonsured into monasticism with the name Vladimir. In 1912, he was ordained as a hieromonk and temporarily appointed as the administrator of the Tsaritsyn Holy Spirit Monastery. In 1923, he was elevated to the rank of igumen, but soon the monastery was closed by the godless. Venerable Vladimir continued to live in Sergiev Posad, working as a roofer.
In 1931, he was arrested and imprisoned in Butyrka prison. During the interrogation, he stated that he did not recognize himself as guilty of anti-Soviet activities. On June 6, 1931, the Collegium of the OGPU sentenced him to five years of exile. Venerable Vladimir died in exile in Kazakhstan on March 3, 1933, and was buried in an unmarked grave.
