Saint Vladimir was born on June 6, 1871, in the family of priest Alexei Pokrovsky in the city of Moscow. After graduating from the Theological Seminary, he was ordained a priest in 1894 at the Ascension Church in the village of Burcevo, Vereysky district of Moscow province, where he served for more than forty years.
In 1937, during the ruthless destruction of the Church, Priest Vladimir Pokrovsky was accused of anti-Soviet activities. On January 26, 1938, he was arrested and imprisoned in Taganka prison in Moscow. During the interrogation, he replied that he had not engaged in anti-Soviet activities.
On February 21, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. Priest Vladimir Pokrovsky was shot on February 26, 1938, and buried in an unknown common grave at the Butovo shooting range near Moscow.
