Venerable Martyr Vissarion (in the world Vasily Isidorovich) was born on February 26, 1880, in the village of Nikitino, Perm Province. After accepting monastic tonsure, on September 15, 1909, he entered the Belogorsky Monastery. On April 25, 1916, he was accepted as a novice, and on May 1, 1917, he was tonsured into monasticism. On October 8, 1917, he was ordained a deacon by the Holy Martyr Theophan. After the Bolsheviks came to power, Vissarion was arrested and sent to forced labor. On October 28, 1918, for refusing to work, he was thrown alive into the Kama River. Venerable Vissarion was canonized among the local saints of the Perm Diocese on July 2, 1998, and included in the Council of New Martyrs for church-wide veneration in 2000.
