Saint Martyr Victor was born on October 31, 1872, in the village of Koy, Tver Province. He was a teacher in a church parish school and served as a psalmist, and later as a deacon. In 1918, the persecutions against the Orthodox Church began. Father Victor was arrested in 1920 and sentenced to imprisonment in a labor camp. In 1930, he was ordained to the priesthood, but soon was arrested again for failing to fulfill the grain procurement plan. In 1934, Fr. Victor was arrested on charges of concealing church valuables and sentenced to two years of imprisonment. After his release, he continued to serve in the church despite the persecutions. On November 12, 1937, Fr. Victor was arrested and imprisoned. On November 25, the NKVD Troika sentenced him to execution. Priest Victor Ilyinsky was shot on November 27, 1937.
