Nun Vera was born in 1878 in the village of Sobolevo, Moscow Province. In 1903, she entered the Assumption Brusensky Monastery, where she served until 1918. After the destruction of the monastery, Vera lived with believers, earning a living by sewing. In 1931, she was arrested and accused of anti-Soviet agitation. Vera stated that she had no hostile relations with the authorities. On May 29, 1931, she and the nun Antonina were sentenced to 5 years of exile in Kazakhstan. Vera Grafova died in exile in 1932. Nun Antonina was arrested in 1937 and imprisoned in the Kolomna prison, where she denied her guilt in counter-revolutionary activities.
