Saint Veniamin was born on March 20, 1875, in the family of psalmist Vasily Lukanin. In 1891, he was appointed to perform the duties of a psalmist in the Trinity Church of the Polazninsky Factory in the Perm district. In 1902, he was ordained as a deacon, and in 1907 – as a priest at the Pokrovskaya Church in the village of Yasyl. He served in various churches, was a teacher of singing and a law teacher in schools. In 1917, he was elected as the rector of the Kazan Church in the village of Novo-Painskoye. Priest Veniamin was shot by godless Bolsheviks in the autumn of 1918.
