Martyr Babylas of Nicomedia and 84 children with him
Martyrs
Saint Babylas and his eighty-four disciples suffered in Nicomedia for their confession of the true faith during the reign of Emperor Maximian. The saint, who taught and guided children in the virtues of Christianity, endured severe tortures. Yet he continually prayed to the Lord, expressing gratitude for the grace granted to him.
After severe beatings and imprisonment, he and his disciples, refusing to yield to threats, steadfastly proclaimed their faith. Enraged by their response, the emperor ordered their execution. As they were led to the place of execution, they praised God and joyfully embraced their martyrdom.
