Venerable Vassian was born in Eastern Syria and arrived in Constantinople during the reign of the pious Emperor Marcian. With the help of distinguished men Severus and John, he built a monastery. The Venerable one became renowned for his virtues and miracles, attracting many to monastic life. His disciples numbered up to 300. He cast out demons, healed ailments, and performed numerous wonders. The Venerable one reposed in deep old age at the end of the 5th century.
