Bishop
Saint Basil the Confessor was bishop of the ancient city of Parium, following the acceptance and establishment of Christianity. He was chosen for his virtuous life and became a true confessor of Christ during the iconoclastic period. He refused any form of cooperation or communication with the heretics and did not sign the decree ordering the destruction of icons, despite the pressures that were put on him. He endured persecution and humiliation for his faith, constantly being forced to move from one place to another. Saint Basil did not participate in the councils of heretics, thereby preserving the purity of the teachings of our Lord. He died in peace, offering his virtuous life to God.
