Vasily Sergeyevich Nikolsky was born on February 10, 1898, in the village of Savtsino, Tver Province, in the family of a priest. He graduated from the Theological Seminary and, having accepted the priestly rank, served in the churches of the Tver diocese. In 1930, he was arrested and exiled for 3 years for 'counter-revolutionary propaganda.' After returning in 1934, he served in the village of Ivanovskoye. On October 11, 1937, he was arrested again, accused of 'counter-revolutionary agitation.' Not admitting his guilt, he was shot on November 3, 1937. He was glorified by the Archierarchical Jubilee Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in the year 2000.
