In 1877, in the city of Kurghan, Tobolsk province, Vasily Iosifovich Bova was born. He graduated from the Spiritual School and served as a psalmist in the church in the village of Novouralsk, Akmolinsk region, from 1909 to 1914. In 1915, he was transferred as a psalmist to the Mary Magdalene Church in the city of Petropavlovsk. In 1920, he was ordained as a priest and served in the village of Poludino in Northern Kazakhstan. Since 1929, he lived in Petropavlovsk, attending the Nikolsk Church, a stronghold of Orthodoxy in the city. He was arrested on November 6, 1937, accused of 'counter-revolutionary activity,' but did not confess to the charges. He was executed on December 4, 1937, by the decision of the troika of the NKVD of the North Kazakhstan region on November 14, 1937. He was glorified by the Archdiocesan Jubilee Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
