Basil Arkhipov
Martyr
Martyr Vasily was born on July 26, 1876, in the village of Goretovo, Lukhovitsky district of Ryazan province. He graduated from the parish school and served in the army from 1916 to 1917. Upon returning, he engaged in farming and became a psalmist in the church. In 1937, the repressions began: Vasily and his associates were accused of anti-Soviet activities. On February 26, 1938, they were arrested, and on March 8, they were sentenced to execution. On March 14, 1938, they were shot and buried in an unmarked grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
