Martyrs Basilissa and Anastasia of Rome, disciples of Apostles Peter and Paul
Martyrs
The holy martyrs dedicated themselves to the service of the Lord by burying the bodies of the martyrs who were slain for Christ. By the command of Emperor Nero, they were imprisoned and subjected to cruel tortures: they were beaten, scraped with iron, and burned with candles, yet they remained steadfast in faith. In the end, their heads were cut off, and they departed to the Lord to stand before Him in the assembly of the holy martyrs.
The relics of the saints rest in Rome, in a temple built in honor of the Mother of God, the Peacemaker.
