Saint Martyr Varlaam was born in 1880. He served as a priest in the city of Sevsk, Bryansk region, in the church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

In the autumn of 1936, the priest was arrested. His relatives unsuccessfully tried to find out anything about the further fate of Father Varlaam. Only the day of the martyr's end is known – December 8, 1937.
