Valentin Alexandrovich Korniyenko was born in 1873 in the city of Bobrynets, Yelisavetgrad district of Kherson province. He was first arrested in 1921 and sentenced to 10 years in camps. In 1930-1931, he lived in Moscow and was a member of the church council. On April 18, 1937, accused of counter-revolutionary activity, the future martyr was exiled to Kazakhstan for 5 years, residing in the village of Maiskoye. The second arrest occurred on November 25, 1937, where he rejected the accusation of conducting 'counter-revolutionary work' and did not provide evidence against others. By the verdict of the troika of the NKVD on December 1, 1937, the martyr Valentin was shot and buried in a common unmarked grave. He was glorified by the Archierarchical Jubilee Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in the year 2000.
