Tryphaena of Cyzicus
Martyr
The holy martyr Triphena came from the city of Cizicus; she was the daughter of Christians: Anastasia the Synclitic and her mother Socratia. Voluntarily surrendering to suffering, she exposed the idolatrous delusion and called to the true God. For this, the governor of the city of Caesarea ordered her to be thrown into a blazing furnace, but she emerged unharmed. Then the saint was hanged on a high tree and cast down on sharp nails, after which she was given to be devoured by beasts, which did not touch her. Finally, she was torn apart by the horns of an ox. It is preserved in the account that where her blood flowed, a spring of water arose, from which many received help and healing.
