Martyrs Straton, Philip, Eutychian, and Cyprian, of Nicomedia
Martyrs
The Holy Martyrs Straton, Philip, Eutychius, and Cyprian were noble and virtuous men. They preached the word of God in Nicomedia, calling the people to abandon idolatry and turn to the true faith.
When the governor of the region learned of their actions, he summoned them to appear before him. They confessed their faith and proclaimed the principles of Christianity. In doing so, they endured terrible tortures. They were thrown to wild beasts, beaten, and subjected to horrific trials, until they finally surrendered their souls to the fire.
Their memory is celebrated on August 17.
