Monastic Martyrs and Confessors Auxentius, Basil, Gregory, another Gregory, John, Andrew, Peter and many others

During the reign of Constantine Copronymus, many Orthodox warriors, having left their military ranks, embraced monasticism. Many of them were ordered by the lawless king to be deprived of life after suffering. One of them, named Basil, was first blinded. When Saint Basil continued to venerate the holy icons even after being blinded, the tormentor thrust a sword into Basil's belly, exposing all his innards. At the same time, Saint Stephen received the martyr's crown for the holy icons in Constantinople. Besides these, two Gregorys and some others were exiled to imprisonment, where they passed away. Finally, Saint John was banished to Daphne, where, by the king's order, he was often subjected to beatings, from which he also died.
