Stefan Štiljanović
Saint
Saint Stephen Štiljanović was born and raised in a devout Christian family in the Serbian town of Župa. He served in the army and defended his homeland during the time of the Ottoman invasions. When the people suffered from famine, the saint distributed his bread to those in need. He lived a deeply Christian life, showing mercy, purity, prayer, faith, and love for his fellow human beings.
He reposed on October 4, 1515. After his death, the Turks opened his grave and found his body incorrupt, which Serbian monks later ransomed and transferred to the Monastery of Fruška Gora near Novi Sad.
The Serbian Church honors Saint Stephen for his faith and ascetic struggle.
