In August 2009, in the village of Kolcheadan, Kamensky District, the remains of the priest Stefan Lukanin and the deacons Georgy Begma and Nestor Gudzovsky, who were shot in 1918, were reburied. A wooden cross with the names of the new martyrs was erected at the site of their death. Igumen Nestor and priest Nikolai served a moleben, attended by nuns and representatives of the administration. The clergymen refused to obey the godless authorities and were shot at the Sinar station. In the early 21st century, they were canonized as saints among the new martyrs of Russia.
In Kolcheadan, there were once two churches: the Pokrovsky Women’s Monastery and the Church of the Meeting of the Lord, of which not a trace remains. Local residents know almost nothing about the spiritual life of the parish and the fate of the priests. According to one version, they were buried in the churchyard, and the relatives of deacon Georgy decided to erect a memorial cross at this site. The Preobrazhensky Men’s Monastery plans to improve the area around the cross.
The great-grandson of deacon Georgy, Alexey Lobanov, speaks of his grandmother, who was one of his children. She often shared memories of her father and how, after his murder, the family fled to Yekaterinburg. Georgy Begma’s daughter preserved the family photo archive, which allows us to learn about the appearance of the Kolcheadan martyrs. Alexey Dmitrievich is gathering information about his ancestor and decided to install a memorial cross at the presumed burial site.
