Fathers Stefan Kostogryz and Alexander Aksenov served in different dioceses. Father Stefan, who served in the Odessa region, was sentenced in 1935 to 7 years in camps for being accused of the possibility of escaping from the Soviet Union. Father Alexander, who served in the Nizhny Novgorod region, was initially sentenced to 3 years of exile, and then to 10 years in camps for "possessing a sermon of counter-revolutionary content." In 1937, both priests ended up in Karlag in Kazakhstan, where they were accused of systematic counter-revolutionary agitation among the prisoners and sentenced to execution by shooting. They were shot on September 26, 1937, in the 1st Volkovsky section of the Karlag of the NKVD.
