Spyridon, Patriarch of Serbia, hymnographer
Holy Hierarch
Saint Spyridon, Patriarch of Serbia, took great care of the monastic communities during the difficult years of civil and ecclesiastical disorder. He was consecrated by Saint Ephraim II, Patriarch of Serbia, who withdrew to the secluded Archangel Monastery of the Church of Dušan. Church hymns refer to Saint Spyridon as the 'spiritual treasury.' The saint passed away almost at the same time as the blessed Prince Lazar, who was killed in the battle with the Turks on the Kosovo field. After the death of Saint Spyridon, the administration of the Serbian Church was again entrusted to Saint Ephraim II.
