Saint Sophronius, Archbishop of Cyprus

Saint Sophronius was the son of Christian parents on the island of Cyprus. Having received a good education, he dedicated himself to studying the writings of the holy fathers and living according to the commandments of the Lord. Due to his piety, he was granted the gift of wonderworking and performed many miracles. After the death of the bishop of the Cypriot Church, Saint Damian, he was elected to take his place. Upon assuming the episcopal throne, he showed concern for widows, orphans, and the helpless, defending the oppressed. Having lived piously, he passed away peacefully in the 6th century.
