The Righteous Snandulia (also known as Yazdundokta)
Righteous
The Persian Christian Yazdunokta lived in the capital of Ctesiphon. During the persecution of Christians, when more than a hundred people were arrested and executed, she was not arrested, as she was 'just' a layperson. King Shapur exhibited greater clericalism than the Christians. Yazdunokta fed all the prisoners, organizing a lavish feast on the eve of the execution and gifting each one a festive white garment. The next morning, she came early and announced that the execution would take place that day, urging everyone to remain faithful to God. The martyrs were beheaded, and that very night Yazdunokta managed to steal the bodies and bury them, saving them from desecration.
