Saint Synkletika was born in Egypt, in the city of Alexandria, into a noble and pious family. From a young age, she desired to dedicate herself entirely to Christ and refused marriage, choosing instead to devote herself to a pure and spiritual life.
After the death of her parents, she distributed all her possessions to the poor and, taking her sister with her, withdrew to a deserted place. There she became a nun and began to live an ascetic life, struggling spiritually through fasting and enduring temptations with patience. Over time, more and more women sought her guidance, until eventually a monastic community was formed around her.
During the final years of her life, she suffered from severe illnesses, for which she refused medical treatment, relying solely upon her faith in God. Before her death, she beheld a vision of holy angels and foretold her departure to the Kingdom of Heaven, which took place three days later.
Saint Syncletica reposed around 350 A.D., having lived on earth for approximately eighty years, labouring constantly and exercising herself in virtue.
