Saint Confessor Protopriest Sergius Pravdolyubov was born in 1890 in the village of Makkaveevo, Ryazan province, in the family of a teacher, Anatoly Pravdolyubov. He graduated from the Ryazan Theological Seminary and the Kiev Theological Academy, and was ordained a priest in 1915. In 1919, he became the rector of the Trinity Cathedral in Kukarka, where he endured severe trials, including arrests and executions of priests. In 1923, he moved with his family to Kasimov, where he continued his ministry. In 1929, he was arrested and sentenced to two years of imprisonment, but was released by Easter 1930. In 1935, he was arrested again and sent to the Solovetsky camp, and then to Medvezhyegorsk. He was released in 1943, but the Trinity Church was closed. He worked various jobs and temporarily served in churches. In 1946, he became the rector of the Spasskaya Church in Spassk, where his son Anatoly was ordained a deacon. Protopriest Sergius passed away in 1950 at the age of 60 and was buried in Kasimov, in the Trinity Church.
