Protodeacon
He was born on September 23, 1879, in the village of Ivanovskoye, Yaroslavl Province, into the family of a priest. He completed two courses at the Yaroslavl Spiritual School, but not wishing to serve in the ecclesiastical field, he moved to Saint Petersburg, where he graduated from a military school and received the rank of officer. Possessing excellent singing abilities, he was invited to the Imperial Chapel and served as a deacon, and later as a protodeacon until his martyr's death.
In 1932, he was arrested and sentenced to five years of exile, ending up in the city of Rzhev in the Tver region. In July 1937, he moved to Torzhok and served in the Nikolsk-Pustynsky Church. On August 21, 1937, he was arrested and imprisoned in the Tver prison. During interrogations, he was accused of anti-Soviet agitation, but he denied all accusations.
On November 1, 1937, the NKVD Troika sentenced him to execution, which was carried out on November 3 of the same year. He was canonized among the ranks of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia at the Jubilee Archpastoral Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in August 2000 for public veneration.
