He was born in the Vitebsk province. On March 11, 1908, he was accepted as a novice in the Valaam Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery in the Vyborg province. On December 23, 1910, he was tonsured a monk with the name Sergius. From 1911, he served in the fishing obedience at the monastery on Valaam, and later was transferred to the Nosovsky Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery in the village of Tugolovka, Borisoglebsky district, Tambov province. In the Nosovsky Monastery, he was ordained as a hieromonk. In 1917, Hieromonk Sergius was wickedly murdered. He was canonized on December 27, 2000, by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.
