Martyrs Seleukos, Stratonikes, Kronides, Leontios and Serapion
Martyrs
The holy martyrs Seleucus, Stratonik, Kronid, Leontius, and Serapion suffered for their faith in the 3rd century. Seleucus was from Galatia, Stratonik from Nicomedia in Bithynia, and Kronid, Leontius, and Serapion from Egypt. After enduring many tortures, Kronid, Leontius, and Serapion were bound and thrown into the sea, but their relics were washed ashore, where Christians buried them. Seleucus underwent cruel torments and was given to wild beasts to be devoured. Stratonik was tied to two branches of a tree, which were then released, tearing him apart.
The memory of the holy martyrs is celebrated on September 9, when Stratonik is also commemorated.
