Saint Savvatiy, whose origins are not recorded, labored in the Belozersky Monastery of Saint Kirill. He led a strict monastic life, fulfilling his vows and serving the brethren. Burdened by fame, he sought solitude and, learning about the Solovetsky Island, decided to settle there. After prayer and the blessing of the igumen, he secretly left the Valaam Monastery and, overcoming difficulties, reached the island.
On Solovetsky Island, Savvatiy, along with the monk Herman, built a cell and began to live in labor and prayer. They faced envy from the local inhabitants, but the blessed elders continued their ascetic feats. After Herman's departure, Savvatiy remained alone, deepening his prayer and fasting.
As he approached the end of his life, he crossed over to the mainland to partake of the Holy Mysteries. Meeting igumen Nafanail, he confessed and received communion. After this, returning to his cell, he prepared his soul to meet the Lord.
Saint Savvatiy reposed on September 27, and his memory is honored on this day. His holy relics were transferred to Solovetsky Island in 1465.
