Saint Rufus, the Hermit of the Caves, laboured in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra during the fourteenth century. He was distinguished for his faith, patience, and wisdom. To this day, he continues to be venerated as a model of ascetic and spiritual struggle. He is buried in the Far Caves of the Kyiv Lavra. His memory is celebrated on the 28th of August together with the Synaxis of the Saints of the Far Caves.
