Saint Romil was born in Vidin from a Bulgarian mother. After receiving a good education, he began his monastic life in the Ustye Monastery in Tarnovo, where he took his vows. Under the guidance of Saint Gregory of Sinai, he lived in the Hidden Desert, but due to attacks from robbers, he was forced to retreat to Zagorie. After the robbers were subdued, Romil returned to the Hidden Desert, where he was visited by Gregory Tsamblak. Soon, he left this place again due to the threat of attacks from the Mohammedans and moved to the Lavra of Saint Athanasius on Mount Athos, and then to Avlon. With his disciples, he moved to Serbian lands, to the Monastery of the Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Ravanica. After living for a short time, he ascended to heaven. His holy relics rest in the Ravanica Monastery, where healings of the blind and lame occur.
