Martyrs Romanus, Jacob (James), Philotheus, Hyperechius, Abibus, Julian, and Paregonius, at Samosata
Martyrs
The holy martyrs exposed pagan delusions, for which they underwent severe tortures: their shoulders and knees were crushed, they were sawn, heavy iron shackles were placed upon them, and they were thrown into prison. After this, they were brought out again, sawed again, hanged, and their heads were nailed to the cross. In such sufferings, they surrendered their souls to God.
They suffered in the year 297 during the reign of Emperor Diocletian in the city of Samosata (in Syria, on the Euphrates River).
