Martyr Synetus of Rome (Man of Reason)
Martyr
The holy martyr Razumnik was a Roman, who in his youth was given to the bishop of Rome for the study of the Divine books. Possessing a good character, he was elevated to the position of church reader, where he taught many about piety and true faith, reproving pagan worship and the veneration of idols. When this was reported to the emperor, Saint Razumnik was brought before him for interrogation, during which he boldly confessed Christ. For this, he was subjected to cruel tortures, but remained steadfast and did not renounce Christ. After long sufferings, he was sentenced to be beheaded. His relics were transferred from Rome to the island and to the abbey of Reichenau in the year 830.
