The incorrupt relics of the righteous Procopius were discovered in the 17th century near the parish of the Ustyansky Vvedenskaya Church of the Vologda Diocese and were placed in the church, where they remained in open view for two hundred years, emanating numerous miracles. There are no records about the origin and life of this holy servant of God, but his name became known: he revealed it in a vision to a pious local resident, Savely.
In connection with the increase in miraculous healings, the relics of the righteous Procopius were examined in 1696 (or 1645) and 1739, after which an altar was consecrated in honor of the righteous one in the church where his relics rested, an icon was written, and services were held.
In 1818, a universal celebration of the saint's memory was established.
