Venerable Prokopios the Confessor of Decapolis
Venerable
Saint Procopius of Decapolis, originally from the Decapolis region, was a renowned ascetic, distinguished by his strict fasting and purity of soul. In the difficult times of the iconoclastic heresy, he courageously defended Orthodoxy, denouncing the heretics who rejected holy icons. For this, he endured severe tortures by the order of Emperor Leo the Isaurian, who killed many Orthodox Christians. Procopius and his friend Basil were imprisoned, where they suffered for their faith. After the death of Emperor Leo, the saint was released and continued his life in ascetic labors, guiding many towards virtue. In his venerable old age, he departed to Christ to receive the reward for his exploits.
