Saint Timothy and Polyeuktos the Martyrs
Martyrs
Saint martyr Polyektos was born in Caesarea, where he successfully preached about Christ, converting the unbelievers to the holy faith. For his preaching, he was captured, subjected to torture, and thrown into prison. He was torn apart by iron claws, had his jaw broken, and was thrown into a heated furnace.
In Mauritania, deacon Timothy also preached the faith of Christ and for this suffered cruel torments. He was imprisoned, tormented by hunger and thirst. After being urged to offer sacrifice to idols, he ascended to the burning pyre in prayer and surrendered his spirit to God. His relics were honorably placed by the believers in the region of Mauritania.
