Venerable Pimen of Palestine
Venerable
The holy fathers Sophronius and John recorded about Saint Pimen that he lived in the desert of Ruva, feeding on roots. One day, Abba Agathonik, visiting him, suffered from the cold, while Saint Pimen, being naked, did not experience suffering. He recounted that he was warmed by a lion, but predicted that he would be eaten by beasts. The saint explained that when he was a shepherd, he did not save a man from his dogs, and for this, he was to die the same death. Three years after this prediction, Saint Pimen was indeed eaten by beasts. His holy soul was joined to the ranks of the holy fathers by the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.
