Saint Martyr Peter was born in 1873 in the village of Kondol, Saratov Province, in the family of priest Ioann Pokrovsky. He graduated from the Saratov Theological Seminary. The family had five children. Since 1924, the family lived in Saratov, where Father Peter served as a priest in the cemetery church.
On July 25, 1928, Father Peter was arrested by the P.P. OGPU. He was accused of anti-Soviet agitation. He did not confess to the charges. On November 2, 1928, he was released and exiled to the city of Tver for three years. After completing his exile, he returned to Saratov and served as a priest in the cathedral.
On October 11, 1936, Father Peter was arrested again by the NKVD. He was accused of anti-Soviet agitation but did not confess to being guilty. On January 9, 1937, he was exiled for five years to Kazakhstan.
The martyr spent his exile in the village of Uspenka, where he was arrested again on November 24, 1937. During interrogations, he asserted that he did not conduct counter-revolutionary agitation. On December 2, 1937, at a meeting of the NKVD troika, a decree was issued for his execution. The sentence was carried out on December 30, 1937. The burial place remains unknown.
