Peter Ivanovich Markov was born on October 15, 1881, in the village of Sechenki, Bronitsky district of Moscow province. He received his education at the Don Spiritual School and the Moscow Spiritual Seminary, which he graduated from in 1904. In 1905, he was ordained as a priest and began serving in the church of the village of Malakhovka. Father Peter served his entire life in this church, having 9 children and a loving congregation. In 1930, he was arrested and sentenced to 3 weeks of corrective labor. On January 22, 1938, he was arrested for the second time, accused of 'counter-revolutionary agitation.' Father Peter did not admit his guilt. The sentence was the highest measure of punishment, and he was shot on February 21, 1938, at the Butovo firing range. A petition for the review of the case, submitted by his daughter, was rejected on November 26, 1939.
