Presbyter
To the Holy Martyr, Priest Peter Lebedev, who was born into the family of a teacher of the Galich Theological School, was ordained a priest in 1911. He served in the Church of the Prophet Elijah in the village of Rodniki, Ivanovo region, demonstrating selflessness and asceticism. Father Peter did not take money from parishioners for the sacraments, for which the parishioners built him a house. In 1921, he was awarded the rank of protodeacon and created a parish library, as well as gathered children for lessons on the Law of God. Father Peter bravely defended Orthodox churches and was not afraid of discussions with atheists. In 1932, he was arrested, and his family was expelled from their home. After his release in 1935, he returned to serving. When local authorities decided to close the church, he organized a petition to defend it. In October 1937, he was arrested again and shot in the prison of the city of Ivanovo.
