Peter, called Absalomite, was a native of the land of Eleveeropolis. He was captured during the persecutions of Christians in the city of Avlona. During the interrogation by the governor Severus, he confessed his faith, stating that he was a Christian and could not offer sacrifices to idols. The governor tried to force him to renounce God, threatening him with torture and death, but Peter steadfastly replied that he preferred to suffer for Christ rather than deny Him.
Despite the cruel tortures, the holy martyr did not utter a single groan, but only sang psalms, expressing his devotion to the Lord. He asserted that the torments did not cause him pain, and that true suffering lies in renouncing God. Eventually, the governor sentenced him to crucifixion, and Peter, as a valiant warrior of Christ, accepted a martyr's death, being deemed worthy to partake in the sufferings of the Lord.
Saint Peter Absalomite suffered in the city of Avlona during the reign of Maximian in Rome. Glory be to our Lord Jesus Christ, to Whom be glory forever. Amen.
