Martyr Peter Vasilyevich Bordan was born in 1895 in the village of Slobodzeia, Kherson province. From 1915 to 1917, he served in the Tsarist army. On February 4, 1936, he was arrested for refusing to join a collective farm and sentenced to 3 years in a corrective labor camp in the Ortaus division of the KarLag of the NKVD. On August 22, 1937, he and Dmitry Mikhailovich Morozov were arrested. On August 31, 1937, by the Special Troika of the UNKVD of the Karaganda region, they were sentenced to execution and were shot on September 3. The martyrs were glorified in the ranks of saints by the Archierarchical Jubilee Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
