Virgin Martyr Pelagia of Antioch
Martyr
Saint Pelagia, who lived in Antioch of Syria during the reign of Diocletian, came from a noble lineage. Upon learning of her Christian faith, the governor of the city sent soldiers to capture her. Pelagia, pleading with the soldiers to wait, began to pray to God, asking for protection and that she not be delivered into the hands of the soldiers. Ultimately, she, dressed in her finest clothes, threw herself from the top of the house and surrendered her spirit to God at the age of 15, preserving her virginity.
