Saint Paul the Physician was from Corinth. He was raised with piety and got to know from a very young age the principles of Christian faith.
He became a monk and lived an ascetic life, struggling with courage against all passions, fasting and living with self-control. One day, during prayer, a demon appeared before him, urging him to give in to his carnal desires. Paul overcame it by making the sign of the Cross and calling the name of Jesus Christ.
The demon attacked him again by sending a prostitute who brought a child before him, publicly claiming that Paul was the child’s father. The saint received the child with joy. However, his enemies began to mock him. They bound him and led him into the city. Upon arriving there, he called the people to gather around him and asked the child about his father. The child then pointed to a blacksmith. Thus, the saint was declaired innocent.
After this event, God granted Paul the gift of miracles. Through his prayers, he healed the sick and cared for all those in need.
He departed for the Kingdom of Heaven at a very advanced age, having lived for more than seventy years.
