He was born on February 16, 1849, in the village of Dresvishchi, Vologda province, into a peasant family. He learned to read and write on his own. The decision to embrace monasticism came to him in adulthood. On March 19, 1880, he was accepted as a novice at the Pavel-Obnorsky Monastery. On October 9, 1880, he took monastic vows with the name Pavel, and on November 16, he was ordained as a hierodeacon, and on June 24, 1881, as a hieromonk. In 1887, he managed the Pavel-Obnorsky Monastery. In 1890, he became the abbot of the Nikolaev-Prilutsky Monastery. On June 24, 1898, he was elevated to the rank of igumen. On March 13, 1902, he became the abbot of the Koryazhem Nikolaev Monastery, where he became a moral support for the brotherhood. In 1918, under the new regime, he was arrested and executed on September 30, 1918.

In 1916, due to health issues, he retired but continued to assist the brotherhood. In 1918, he went to the Koryazhem Monastery to discuss the ongoing changes. He was arrested and executed on September 30, 1918.
