Father Pavel Chernyshev was born in 1861 and served as a priest in the village of Novo-Utkinsky Zavod in the Perm province for 28 years. He was loved and respected by his parishioners for his selflessness. In July 1918, under the pretext of mobilization for trench work, Father Pavel, along with his son and parishioners of the church, was taken from his native village towards the village of Aramil. Near Aramil, they were forced to dig a pit, after which gunfire began. Father Pavel was shot in the back, and along with him, four others were killed. The rest fled, some of whom were caught by the Red Army soldiers and finished off with bayonets and rifle butts. Two, including the son of the holy martyr Pavel Chernyshev, managed to escape.
