The Martyrs Paul and the two sisters, Chionia (Thea) and Alevtina (Valentina), were born in Egypt. They were arrested by the governor Firmilian and taken to the city of Caesarea, where they confessed their faith in Christ.
They were therefore subjected to dreadful and inhumane tortures. The Saints Chionia and Alevtina were savagely beaten on their young and vigorous bodies until they were finally thrown into the flames and brought their lives to a martyr’s end.
Saint Paul stood in prayer, strengthening the faith of the Christians with his words and urging pagans to recognize the power of the true God. His prayer moved the crowds to tears and led many to repentance. In the end, he was beheaded, gaining through his martyrdom a place in the Kingdom of Heaven.
