Presbyter
Saint Paul was born on June 22, 1881, in the village of Karabuzino, Tver Province, in the family of a church servant. His father passed away when Paul was five years old, and he was taken in by his uncle for upbringing. He graduated from a theological school and served in the army from 1916 to 1918. After demobilization, he returned to his homeland and was ordained as a priest at the church in the village of Khobotskoye. Father Paul and his wife had five children, but all of them died at an early age, leaving only their youngest daughter, Tamara, alive. In 1937, Father Paul was arrested. On August 6, after returning from the forest with his wife and daughter, he was arrested by NKVD officers. The investigation lasted four days, and on August 10, the investigator concluded it without finding guilt, but on September 13, Father Paul was executed. He was canonized among the ranks of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia at the Jubilee Archpastoral Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in August 2000 for public veneration.
