In Iconium, during the persecutions of Christians, there lived a noble maiden named Paraskeva, raised by Christian parents. She used her inheritance to help the needy, rejected suitors, and preached faith in Christ. For this, she was captured and imprisoned.
The military commander sent by Emperor Diocletian learned about her and summoned her to trial. Paraskeva boldly confessed her faith, for which she was subjected to cruel tortures, but she did not renounce Christ. After a miraculous healing by an angel, she preached again, destroying idols in the temple.
The commander, enraged by her actions, ordered her to be tortured again, but Paraskeva remained steadfast. Eventually, she was beheaded, and her soul departed to the Lord, and from her relics, healings occurred. The wicked commander soon perished, and Saint Paraskeva was buried with honors.
